She wants to drift through the blackest ocean, be the smallest grain of sand. She wears her emotions, they itch and burn. If she keeps her pace, she feels less. The wind clears the street. Beauty is her sight. With her eyes shut, she floats.
Una Valrún is an Icelandic fashion designer; she works with natural materials and has a sustainable approach to creation, keeping an open innovative mind she weaves in art and political questions in her research work. She is currently doing an internship at street couture label Hi on Life, which is based in Ghana.
The graduation collection by Una features classical tailored menswear inspired from the movie Time of the gypsies (Emir Kusturica, 1988) meets soft silk fabrics hand dyed with berries and peels.
Exploring emotional landscapes, madness and peculiar minds while esthetically influenced by photographs by Eikoh Hosoe and Nobuyoshi Araki.
The outcome is a roaming spirit without time or place, thriving on luxurious simplicity and odd fits.
