Super 8 film shot last year between Liverpool and Birmingham (and a little London too). It’s a celebration of my friends from Eritrea who I met while working in a refugee settlement in France in 2017 as they settle in their new home in the UK.

This film takes off at Hammarkullen Urban Art 2017 (#HUA17), a street art festival that challenged some of the ideas and trends that we have seen in the last years around Europe.

With a fresh mix of R&B, pop and hip-hop, Swedish songstress Chloé Gisele recently teamed up with Trinidadian soca artist Bunji Garlin for her debut single “Whine up.”

She wants to drift through the blackest ocean, be the smallest grain of sand. She wears her emotions, they itch and burn. If she keeps her pace, she feels less. The wind clears the street. Beauty is her sight. With her eyes shut, she floats.

The H.O.L style could be described as Street Couture with a fusion of Scandinavian clean cuts and African bold prints and applications. The music- and club scene is a great influencer as well as street life.

To Ola Kalnins creating art has always been the call in life. Both underground and overground, street art will always represent a certain nerve and inspiration, however his paintings has developed from an underground phenomenon to contemporary urban art with a higher level of understanding.

Through the connection with the Hip-Hop collective from Sao Paulo “Avante O Coletivo” is that I got to visit and know the organization from Heliopolis “UNAS”. Their mission is to “strengthen the autonomy of the people of Heliópolis for effective citizenship, thus seeking to break the invisible walls that separate the peripheries of other neighborhoods”.

This collage has been done almost entirely with old National Geographic magazines from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Made by hand.

In the eyes of most foreigners Seved does not seem like a ghetto from the first impression, but taking a closer look into it, reveals the true identity of a very segregated neighborhood and beautifully diverse part of Malmö. Economic poverty, lack of jobs and violence are a constant struggle that people of Seved have to face, specially when we consider that many residents of this part of the city are coming from war-torn countries in the Middle East, Africa and back in the days from Latin America as well.
