The film takes off at Hammarkullen Urban Art 2017 (#HUA17), a street art festival that challenged some of the ideas and trends that we have seen in the last years in Europe, where Street art has been transformed into facades with decorative purposes and city-branding strategies. The movie titled The Center is the Periphery – A Hammarkullen story follows some of the artists and organizers during and after the festival, questioning the role of Street art today and shining a light on activism and participation. The project started as a cooperation with Urban Konst, with the idea of producing a simple documentation of the festival as a happening but with time it became something else.
